Guidelines for submitting your artwork:

Island Art and Treasures is an Art Publishing and Retail Trading company. The company's goal is to sell, reproduce, and market the work of various artists, primarily in island regions, and/or whose artwork represents the landscape, wildlife, culture, people, and general mood of the island lifestyle. We are specifically focused on paintings, photographs, or jewelry that communicate clearly some element of this region.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are your artists compensated?
For licensed reproductions, generally artists are paid a royalty ranging from 2% - 10% of the gross selling price of the product produced. We have a flexible Licensing Agreement and our rates vary depending on the product sold. Royalties are paid quarterly for all units sold in the prior period.  For previousl printed and original works the compensation varies greatly.  Please contact us for more specific terms for your product.

How long are your contracts?
We write our licensing agreements with varied terms, but generally from two (2) years to five (5) years for certain types of products.

Does your contract tie up all my artwork with your company?
No, we only contract for certain types of reproductions and the contract only covers the specific images selected. We of course do not wish to have the same images or the same products produced by another company and would seek an exclusive licensing agreement for the period of the license.

Do I get to keep my originals?
This will depend upon the specific terms of the agreement with an individual artist. We do buy original works, as well as license works for reproduction. If an artist is interested in selling original works, and if the work meets our current inventory needs, we will offer to purchase the original work as well.
In other instances we will license the original work for reproduction only. In that event we will use the original work to generate digital images sufficient to produce a high quality reproduction.  The originals are then returned to you. Island Art & Treasures is in the business of promoting the awareness of and the appreciation of art.  As such we do not in any way want to restrict your sale of originals and have no claim to them.

Who owns the copyright on my images?
You do. When we contract to publish your work, whether we own the originals, or whether we only license the right to reproduce your images, we in essence only rent the copyright from you in return for royalties. The artist retains the ownership of copyright.

How long does it take to evaluate my work?
It can take from 30 - 90 days depending on our needs.  Usually you will get a response within 90 days, although if we have future plans to use work like yours we may ask to review it again at our next review period. See the full Submission Guidelines for a synopsis of the formal review process.

We are currently looking for landscape painters, oil painters, watercolor painters, and modern painters for our painters gallery.
