Each month Island Art & Treasures highlights one of our talented artists to introduce you to their style, their passion, and their background. Each of our artists brings unique talents and personalities forged in the diverse personality and culture of their island home.
This month's featured artist is:
Frenchy Loeb

She was born as Marianne. Her grandfather gave her the nickname "Frenchy" upon birth, reasoning in a letter to her mother that "Marianne as such spelled - is the symbol of France, much as Uncle Sam is to the United States and John Bull to England". Obviously, the nickname stuck.
Frenchy Loeb began painting with watercolors while enjoying weekends at Lighthouse Beach on Fire Island, New York and at Tobay Beach on Jones Beach Island, NY. These clothing optional beaches afforded more live models than any art studio could possibly provide, and the scenery is without doubt of some of the most beautiful beaches in the United States. Frenchy became known as for her nude beach paintings and took it to the Caribbean in 1996.
The artist has painted in Negril, Jamaica, the island of St. Martin/Sint Maarten (French/Dutch), the islands of Saba, St. Barths and Anguilla, and the islands of the Grenadines.
Frenchy returned to the USA in May 2003 to upstate New York, and began designing gemstone jewelry; and painting Adirondack Watercolors, and selling her work locally and online. You may find her work at http://www.frenchyloeb.com
We invite you to explore the works and the world of Frenchy Loeb in our Art Catalogue.
Check back to this page often as we regularly highlight a new landscape artist or watercolor artist. We always seek to show you the artists prints, but also we include the artist biography and let you learn a little more about the artist.
